Sam Haskins would have been 85 early last month, and November 26 also marked the second anniversary of his death. He continues to exert a powerful influence on the world of glamour, fashion and art photography.
I had the pleasure of knowing Sam as we worked together when I started Kiki De Montparnasse back in 2005, and it was a true pleasure getting to know him and his wonderful wife Alida.
Sam is best known for his sixties trilogy; ‘Five Girls’ (1962), ‘Cowboy Kate’ (1964) and ‘November Girl’ (1967). Sam’s pioneering creative work with black and white photography, and using simple props remains unsurpassed to this day.
